David Mendel: Born on January 22, 1872 in Tavrig (or Polangen), Lithuania, a small town close to the East Prussian border (fairly close to the East Prussian town of Konigsberg). Apparently his father was in South Africa so he joined him when he was 26. He was in South Africa during the time of the Boer War (1899-1902/3). His profession was that of a photographer, lived in Johannesburg, and later moved to Ermelo , Standerton and then Wakkerstroom, where he had a bottle store. He had a daughter from his first marriage, Jessie who married Maurie Adler. They had a daughter, Lynette who married Harold Levius. David Mendel died in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on September 28, 1946 (4th Tishri) aged 73 years.
Esther (nee Sale): Born on April 14th. 1885 in Yanishik, Russia. She was very Pro-Russian Communist and participated in street demonstrations. Married David Mendel Reiff on ? In ? Died in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on April 1, 1968 (3rd Nissan) aged 82 years.
